Hi there, I’m Olivia

About Me
Hello! My name is Olivia Filion. I was born in Montréal, QC but raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I recently moved back to my home country, along with my husband and our dog, and I'm excited to be here in Calgary!
I have worked in primary education since 2017 when I earned my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Denver's Teacher Education Program.
Since receiving my degree, I have worked as a third grade teacher at an International Baccalaureate (IB) school, and as a first, fourth, and fifth grade teacher at a Waldorf school, both in Denver, Colorado.
Most recently, I spent the last two years at as a math interventionist/specialist at a Waldorf school in Salt Lake City, working with students from grades one through seven. In this position, I co-taught with classroom teachers, led small group work sessions, and worked one-on-one with students who needed more support.
As a child, I never loved mathematics and always struggled with the subject. Throughout my teaching career I have found a passion for it as well as an understanding of students who may not be keen on the subject just like I was at their age. Through genuine enthusiasm and flexible teaching methods, I strive to help my students grow in their understanding of math and their confidence with the subject.
